Abstract

Weather is a part of every human's daily life. Currently, there are frequent changes in the weather, a tool is needed that monitors the weather conditions in the surrounding environment in real time. The Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) is generally useful in providing information about weather conditions. In particular, this tool provides information on temperature, humidity, air pressure, rainfall, air speed and wind direction.

In this study, using engineering research methods. Engineering research is a type of research used in conducting research on a product based on an engineering approach. The prototype of the weather station was designed with Arduino UNO as a data processor. The temperature and humidity sensor uses a DHT-22, a BMP-180 air pressure sensor, a tipping bucket type rainfall gauge with an optocoupler sensor. The sensor measures wind speed and wind direction using a Hall effect sensor and an optocoupler sensor. The data is transmitted using ESP-01 to the internet, then displayed on a website page using MySQL.

The results of the research on the simulation design of the Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS), the sensor can work well but in the process of sending data through the internet network it still finds delays to be displayed on the website. This prototype can simplify use by 75%. Measurements on the sensor can work well.
