Abstract

In the Makassar Aviation Polytechnic Hangar, there is a Ground Power Unit that functions as a power supply for aircraft and trainers. In the current condition, the Ground Power Unit (GPU) is no longer efficient to use because the performance of the Ground Power Unit is not optimal than before. This condition can be overcome by making an alternative ground power unit by only using a car battery that is designed portable. The purpose of this research is to be able to be used as an electrical supply on aircraft and trainers for maintenance of electrical systems and also the implementation of engine run-up on aircraft and trainers. After testing on the alternative Ground Power Unit and witnessed by cadets, instructors and lecturers, the alternative Ground Power Unit is said to be feasible because it is able to supply the electricity needed in narrow body aircraft in the Makassar Aviation Polytechnic Hangar.
