Abstract

Safety and security are essential aspects of airport operations, including the provision of an isolation parking area to handle aircraft in emergency conditions or cases of unlawful interference. At Kualanamu International Airport, the Isolation Area located on Taxiway Sierra has the potential to disrupt the smooth flow of air traffic. The problem formulation of this study is whether Taxiway Sierra meets the ICAO Annex 14 standards to be used as an Isolation Area and how the optimal determination of an Isolation Area on Taxiway Sierra can improve aviation safety and security. This study aims to determine an alternative location that is safer and more efficient in accordance with ICAO Annex 14 standards. The methods used include field observation, document analysis, and questionnaires, with assessments based on criteria such as distance from vital facilities, accessibility, and operational impacts. The results indicate that the proposed alternative location meets safety requirements, provides better access for emergency handling, and minimizes disruption to flight operations.
